Hello, Belmont County soccer fans! We’re excited to share the journey of the Belmont Soar FC and our new home at the Belmont County Sports Complex. For those who may not know, this 28-acre recreational site is nestled in the western part of our county, and it has become a vital space for growing the beautiful game of soccer here in southeastern Ohio.

A Long-Awaited Dream
The Belmont County Sports Complex has a rich history, having been developed in 1986 as part of a reclamation project. Over the years, it has served many purposes, but in 2023, it became the foundation for something we’ve all been dreaming of—a dedicated space for soccer to thrive in our community. With the support of the Belmont County Commissioners and the local community, we are beginning to see our vision come to life.

Right now, the complex features two youth soccer fields (U10 and U12), which are being used for practices and games. But that’s just the beginning. We have big plans for the future, including three additional fields, a playground for younger children, a concession stand, and bleachers for spectators. We want this to be a place where kids, families, and fans can gather, watch great soccer, and feel a sense of pride in the growth of the sport in our area.

Growing the Game
Our club, Belmont Soar FC, has only been a non-profit for about 11 months, but we’ve made tremendous progress in that short time. What started with just one team has already grown to two, and we are eager to continue expanding. We’re dedicated to making soccer more accessible to the youth of Belmont County and beyond. Southeastern Ohio may be a rural area with limited soccer programs, but we’re working hard to change that by providing opportunities for kids of all ages to play and learn.

We’re currently focused on building youth teams, starting with U4, U6, and U8 players. Our goal is to develop soccer programs that grow alongside the kids, eventually offering teams all the way up to U14 and high school levels. We believe that starting young and teaching the fundamentals of the game is crucial. By instilling a love for soccer and a strong foundation, we’re shaping future players who will carry the sport forward in our region.

The Community’s Role
The growth of Belmont Soar FC and the development of the Belmont County Sports Complex would not be possible without the help of our community. From donations to volunteer support, every bit of involvement makes a difference. We want to extend an open invitation for everyone to get involved, whether through donations, volunteering, or simply supporting our teams by attending games and events.

As our Treasurer, Katie Fowkes, says, “What we need to make this work are donations, community involvement, and parent involvement to help develop that for the future.” The more we can all do together, the more we can accomplish. This is a community-driven project, and we’re so grateful to have such passionate people behind us.

Looking Ahead
The future of the Belmont County Sports Complex and Belmont Soar FC is bright. We’re excited to continue developing this space into a soccer hub for Belmont County and the surrounding areas. We have big plans, but we can’t do it without the continued support of our community. Together, we can make soccer a sport that thrives here for years to come.
